Mike Ward Wins At Daytona!!!!

Mike Gajweski was awarded the pole with a 50.869.  Craig Bristol had the fastest lap of the race on lap 6 with a time of 49.918.  Mark Robertson led the most laps of 28, Tanya James led 16, Dwayne Hamm led 14, Mike Gajewski led 4, Rich Gajewski led 2, Mike Ward Led 2 and Tom Cerrato led 1.  There where 7 lead changes between 7 drivers and 4 cautions totaling 16 laps of the race.

Early on in the race around lap 10, Craig Bristol unsuccessfully trying to take the lead from Mark Robertson decided to mow the infield instead, which he ended up losing control, came back up the track to take out two other drivers Mike Gajewski (who had a strong showing) and Rich Gajewski (who was looking to tighten up the distance between first and second for the championship).  Maybe Craig should have had his pit crew put on knobby tires….Craig retired from the race early.  He had no comment.

Dwayne Hamm and Mike Ward hooked up with Mark Robertson in their sights (using binoculars) trying to close up on almost a 15 sec lead.  Mark Robertson running solo proved to be unstoppable until an unfortunate spin on pit road during a green flag pit stop.  Although, ARCA officials are looking into an oily substance running out across pit road from Mike Wards pit box.  After his recovery, Mark was unable to catch back up to the “Red Ball Express” consisting of Mike Ward in his #87 Extreme Gaming Chevrolet and Dwayne Hamm in his #09 Southern Concrete Chevrolet.

Tom Ceratto, Mike Gajewski, Rich Gajewski and Erik Gajewski had too much damage and were unable to get up to speed to stay with the pack and were not a factor through the remainder of the race.

Mike Gajewski ended up retiring from the race due to the pit crew running out of parts to fix his car…….

Tanya Roberts AKA the Dragon was later DQ’d for trying to pit during a “drive thru” penalty.  Maybe next time D.  In the post race interview, Dragon stated that she had fun and to watch out for her at Milwaukee!

The race ended under green when Mike Ward had sling shot past Dwayne on the “low road” and held Dwayne “The Hammer” Hamm off to win by a marginal .002 of a second!  When the checkered flag dropped it was Mike Ward taking the win.  Dwayne Ham photo finished second and Mark Robertson took a strong third.
